Important: what the $89 actually covers

Our $89 price covers a standard cleaning for the first 10 ft of vent line, which is enough for most homes with the dryer near an exterior wall. Longer runs — common in upstairs laundry rooms or dryers set away from an outside wall — are $9 per additional foot, so the final price is always confirmed in writing before we start, not a surprise.

It does not include repairing or replacing damaged vent line, crushed flexible ducting, or a broken exterior vent cover. If we find something like that, we'll show you exactly what we found and give you a separate quote before any of that work starts.

The process

What happens during a dryer vent cleaning.

Every cleaning follows the same process, whether it's a straightforward run or a longer one.

1

Disconnect & inspect

We disconnect the dryer from the vent line and check the connection itself, since a lot of airflow problems start right at the back of the machine.

2

Clean the full vent line

A rotary brush and vacuum clear lint from the entire run, working from both the interior connection and the exterior vent, not just what's reachable from one end.

3

Clear the exterior vent hood

The outside vent cap gets cleared and checked to make sure the flap opens freely — a stuck or lint-packed exterior hood is a common, easy-to-miss blockage point.

4

Reconnect & test airflow

We reconnect everything and run the dryer to confirm airflow is clear from end to end before we call the job done.

Worth knowing

Signs your dryer vent needs attention.

A clogged vent doesn't just slow your dryer down — it's one of the most common causes of home dryer fires. Watch for:

Drying time

Clothes take more than one cycle to dry

If loads that used to dry in one cycle now regularly need a second run, restricted airflow is the most common cause.

Heat

The dryer or laundry room feels hot

Excess heat building up in the room (rather than venting outside) is a sign air isn't moving through the line the way it should.

Smell

A burning smell during a cycle

This one's worth taking seriously — stop the dryer and don't run it again until the vent's been checked.

Exterior

Visible lint around the outside vent

Lint collecting around the exterior hood, or a flap that doesn't open properly when the dryer runs, both point to a blockage.

Timing

It's been over a year

Even without obvious symptoms, an annual cleaning is the standard recommendation — lint builds up gradually and isn't always obvious from inside the house.

Efficiency

Higher energy bills, no other explanation

A dryer working harder to push air through a restricted vent uses more energy per load — often the least obvious sign, but a real cost over a year.

If we find something

How it works if your vent line needs more than a cleaning.

We're not going to talk you into work you don't need, and we're not going to start anything you haven't approved. If we find damaged ducting, a crushed section, or a broken exterior cover, here's what happens:

1. We show you, not just tell you. Photos of the actual issue, explained in plain language — not just a line item on an invoice.

2. You get a separate, written quote. Cost depends entirely on what's needed, so it's priced after a technician actually sees it — never guessed at over the phone.

3. Nothing happens without your OK. The cleaning is complete and paid for either way. Anything beyond that is a separate decision, on your timeline.

Questions

Dryer vent cleaning FAQ

How often should a dryer vent be cleaned?

Once a year for most households — both for fire safety and to keep your dryer running efficiently. Larger households or longer vent runs may need it more often.

What exactly does the $89 include?

The first 10 ft of vent line, cleaned from both ends, plus the exterior vent hood. Runs longer than 10 ft are $9 per additional foot — we'll confirm the total in writing before we start, based on your actual setup.

Why does a clogged dryer vent matter?

Lint is highly flammable, and a blocked vent traps heat and lint together right where the dryer's heating element is — a well-documented cause of home fires. It's also the simplest reason a dryer suddenly seems to take forever to dry a load.

How long does a dryer vent cleaning take?

Most standard runs take well under an hour. Longer or harder-to-access vent lines take a bit more — we'll give you a time estimate before we start.
